Excellent Deals At Automotive Auctions

Posted December 9th by Brad Carlton in Trucks

Do you recall the cartoon the Flintstones? I love the episode about automotive auctions. The car they are bidding on is a gangster car involved in a bank robbery. They do not know a gangster sent one of his henchmen to bid the car and win it and bring it to their hideout. Fred is warned by the minion not to bid on it. Fred takes this as a challenge. Fred wins the bid because the henchman is eating a peanut butter sandwich and his mouth sticks and cannot open his mouth to outbid Fred.

The gangster’s minion tries to out bid Fred for the car at the auction. But he is eating peanut butter and his mouth sticks shut and he cannot bid. Fred and Barney win the bid and race off with the bank robbery car.

The gangster finds out where Fred lives from the automotive auction people. Fred and Barney in the meantime are driving around town in this big gangster car. They take it home where their wives are excited and send the boys to the market for groceries to have a party to celebrate their new ride.

By this time the minion has informed the gangster and he and his other henchmen have gone to Fred’s home and have followed him to the market. They start firing on Fred and Barney in the car ahead of them. The caveman pistols are a type of sling shot with a wooden barrel which fires rocks.

The boys are shelled with rocks. We believe that the rocks fired from these guns can be deadly. They are rocks after all. It worked for David against Goliath. The boys race trying to keep in front of their attackers. Up ahead is a large house on a hill. They race up the road looking for safety.

But they do not know this is the hide out of the head gangster. Fred and Barney are trapped. The gangsters tie them up and start asking where the money is. The boys have no idea what they are talkiing about. They were simply looking for a good deal at the automotive auction. The gangsters find the money in the trunk to the surprise of Fred and Barney.

The gangsters believe they are telling the truth that they did not know about the money. But because they know too much they have to be disposed of. He loads his gun. All of a sudden the police rush in. They had the car under surveillance at all times. They were trying to trap the gangster and his henchmen. They knew he would try to buy the car from the auction.

Fred and Barney are heroes. They do not end up with the car but they get a small reward for their trouble. Now you will probably not have such an adventure when you go to get a great deal at an automotive auction. All you will get is a good car at a great price.

Looking For Used Cars For Sale? Try The Web

Posted December 3rd by Ira Benet in Cars

The Internet has made a difference in many diverse businesses but perhaps one of the places where it’s made its biggest impact is with people looking for used cars for sale on the web. There are many different reasons why buying used cars online has become the best way to get what you want within your budget. Here are just some of the bigger ones.

Choice

Of course it stands to reason that when you’re looking for a used car on the Internet you’ll be able to look through a much broader selection than if you limit yourself to the more traditional kind of used car lots. Many boundaries disappear when you’re looking for used cars for sale in cyberspace, and some of the people who are willing to sell you these cars from foreign countries are able to make the deal better by including the shipping costs.

Competition

Of course the competition on the Internet drives the price down as well. It stands to reason that if you’re looking for a Honda, the Internet will have more people willing to sell you the make and model that you’re looking for. This is the kind of competition that you’re not going to get from more traditional brick-and-mortar lots and when you’re looking to buy cars online there are even sites where the sellers need to compete for the buyer’s attention.

There are other advantages to using the buy cars online model but there are still some people that think it’s somehow more risky than the more traditional method where you meet the buyer face to face. Nothing could be further from the truth. Buying a car online is identical to buying a car from a concrete lot in some very important ways.

For example, it’s advised by any reputable online car dealer that you get the same documentation from any buyer and that you don’t forego this important process. It’s important that people wanting to buy cars online are protected by the same documentation and safeguards that they would be had they bought the car from the more traditional used car lot.

It’s essential that you remember there are distinct advantages to buying a car on the Internet that can’t be matched by their more traditional brick-and-mortar counterparts. One quick look at the best of the websites available will tell you that all the most important processes are still followed, but the selection is vastly improved on the web.

Ira Benet has been working with people who buy cars online for years. He knows where all the deals are for the best used cars online.

Tricks For Decal Removal From Your Car

Posted November 25th by John Miller in Trucks

If you have a vehicle that has a decal or bumper sticker that you no longer want on there vehicle the following tips may help in decal removal without harming the paint.

A heat gun is usually very useful in removing the decals and stickers from a vehicle. If a heat gun is not available, try parking the vehicle so that the decal faces the hot sun in the summer. If this is not possible try using a blow dryer or an iron over a damp towel. You are trying to heat the adhesive under the decal so that it melts and and the solid part of the decal can be removed.

After you melt the adhesive, you will want to have a soft scraper such as a plastic putty knife or credit card to lift the edge of the decal. If you are brave, you can use a razor blade to slide under the decal, buy you will want to be careful that you do not scrape the paint on the vehicle.

Once you are under the decal continue to lift it off of the paint, adding more heat whenever necessary to continue the lifting process. If the decal tears or you lose your edge, keep heating and lifting until you are able to completely remove it. Eventually, you should be able to remove the entire decal from the vehicle.

For decals that are thin like pinstripes, 3M makes a tool called a “Stripe off” tool. The tool is inserted into an electric drill and works like a power eraser to remove the pinstripe from the vehicle. It also works for lettering and small bumper stickers, as long as there is a clear coat over the finish of the vehicle.

After removing the decal from your vehicle, you may find that a sticky residue is left to be removed. If that residue is left on the vehicle, it will become very unsightly as dust and dirt adhere to it.

Several types of solvent are recommended to remove the stickiness from the paint of the vehicle. If one does not work then try another until the residue has been removed from your vehicle.

Some residue may be able to be removed using only rubbing alcohol mixed with dish soap or WD-40. Others will require a stronger solvent such as lighter fluid or even lacquer thinner. Do not apply solvents while the vehicle is warm and do not allow to sit on the surface of the paint long enough to damage the finish of the vehicle. One of these solvents should do the trick to remove the stickiness.

Decals have a tenancy to protect the paint they cover. This may cause them to appear to be brighter and have more shine than the area around them. Waxing the vehicle can help to make the shiny spots less noticeable.

Unfortunately, if a decal has been on an older vehicle, it may be impossible to remove it without using a grinder and removing the decal and the paint underneath it. If this is the case, you will have to apply primer and repaint the vehicle to get rid of the decal.

The History of the Jeep

Posted November 23rd by Karl Grover in Cars

The Jeep has been an iconic figure in the motoring world. Seriously, no other off-road vehicle is as popular and widely loved as the Jeep. With so much appeal inside that off-road monster, the Jeep has its history deeply entrenched into the core of American patriotism.

In’40, three motoring companies were tapped to create a transport utility vehicle that will primarily serve the US Army: American Bantam Car Company, Ford Motor Company, and Willys-Overland. The primary objective of the project was to build a vehicle that can traverse certain terrains without compromising its durability. Willys-Overland got the contract but with their limited resources, the US Army soon requested Ford Company to build the vehicles using Willys-Overland design.

The finished model was coded GPW by Ford with G standing for government, P in reference to the 80 inch wheelbase, and W for the Willys-Overland car design. Hundreds of thousands of Jeeps saw action in the Second World War and some were even leased to the British and Russians under the lend-lease program. The Jeep was a multi-purpose vehicle during the war, capable of serving as a communications vehicle to a light attack vehicle when rigged with a .50 cal machine gun.

With the Allies success in the war, the Jeep became an icon of victory. Pictures of victorious Allied soldiers and leaders posing with the Jeep catapulted the vehicle’s popularity after the war. War personalities like Roosevelt, Churchill, Eisenhower, and MacArthur photographed with Jeeps in the background played a big role in the Jeep’s rise to fame.

Long before the war ended in’45, the Jeep soon became a household name. Making use of the free publicity it got during the war, Willys-Overland began manufacturing civilian Jeeps. The public’s reaction to the vehicle was generally positive, and soon enough the Jeep became one of the best “selling” vehicles of all time.

The Jeep changed a little over the years. Several major and minor adjustments were made. However, the Jeep never lost its familiar look, despite advances in motoring technologies.

Today, the Jeep enjoys a large fan base comprised of people from diverse backgrounds. With such following, it is highly unlikely that the production of the all Jeeps and the most popular model, Jeep Wrangler, will totally halt. Asked why many people are so hooked to this vehicle, the only constant answer will be, “It’s a Jeep thing; you wouldn’t understand.

Ensure Peace of Mind by Shipping Your Car in One Piece

Posted November 19th by Tom Kearns in Trucks

Hastily trusting your car to the first trucking company you come across is the last thing you want, sign a contract on faith, have your car picked up already that day, and then in Pompeii or Paris have the shipment delayed. Your vehicle is finally but with damage and you can’t prove it wasn’t there before.

Informing you on how best to submit your property for transportation themselves is something good companies may do. Save time by preparing your car beforehand and it is best to be self-informed. The responsibility for any overlooked issues rest wholly with the client so make sure the busy clerk doesn’t forget a point or two.

It is better to be fastidious than a careless slacker where your car is concerned. It is not uncommon for occurrences of scandalous customer service involving expensive cargo. Inspect you car minutely before admitting it to a company clerk, pay particular attention to the motor. So that later you will not have to wrack your brains about a bunch of wires you never before noticed it is better to be fully aware of the motor’s condition before shipment.

Removing any removable customized accessories such as radios, alarms, mirrors, etc. is better. Be sure to make sure there aren’t any personal valuable or belongings inside the car that can be seen by anyone. The tires should be checked for wear and air. In the agreement to be signed by both parties there should be written record of any damage. In your presence the car will most likely be checked by a company official, but don’t be afraid to nag him with small details. Obliging their customers is something good carriers companies will be glad to do, and a display of negligence might deter bad companies from carelessly handling your property.

Over the phone and by mail there are too many insurance policies offered and a reasonable person would be insane to pay for all of them. It is better to buy insurance from them against damage and theft no matter how trustworthy they seem.

Decide whether you want primary or excess insurance and inquire beforehand if the company offers the one you prefer. The primary insurance policy will cover damages independently of what is covered by your regular auto insurance. The excess policy covers only what your regular insurance doesn’t: make sure you know precisely what you are and aren’t currently covered against.

For exotic vehicles, antiques or classic cars there are companies specializing in the shipping of these. Handling your precious cargo is what their specially designed carriers are designed for, but it is still advisable to an insurance contract.

Taking digitally-dated photos of your car prior to shipping is a good idea. Inspect the car with the truck driver and inspect the car for apparent damage immediately. This should be done in the presence of the driver or official at the destination. If any new objectionable damage is found a claim should be filed immediately.

Save Money On Insurance For Car

Posted November 18th by Andy Zain in Cars

When buying insurance for car, you want to find the best coverage at the best prices. The following may help you to reach that goal.

You can find several types of car insurance available to you. The one that is required in most states is liability insurance. Liability insurance takes care of damage caused by an accident where you are the driver at fault.

If you have an auto loan, you may find that your loan company requires that you also have insurance coverage that will cover property damage to your vehicle. In the event of an accident, the insurance will pay to have your vehicle restored to its previous condition. If your vehicle is a total loss, the insurance company will pay the loan company before paying you. If your vehicle is very new, there may be a gap in the value of the vehicle and amount you still owe. If so, you will be responsible to pay the difference unless you have gap insurance.

You may also want to buy insurance that will pay for any medical expenses of persons that are riding in your own vehicle. Remember that many times your passengers will be your own family, so you will want to have coverage that will take care of their medical needs in case of an accident.

Insurance costs can grow quite expensive unless you learn to shop for insurance. You can do your shopping online and it often only takes filling out one form to get a great price on insurance. You need to choose a site that will submit your information to three or four insurance companies for a quote. Have those quotes e-mailed to you so that you are able to print them out and compare prices for the best insurance.

Information can also be requested by phone, but most people prefer the convenience of the internet. Request e-mail quotes rather than phone quotes. It is much easier to get the correct information is the agent has already written it down for you. Do not just compare the costs, be sure that you also compare the plans. You want to choose the best plan at the lowest cost. Be cautious of companies that give low prices and high deductibles.

After receiving all the quotes, print them on paper and lay them side by side for comparison. Look at both prices and coverage offered. If you find a coverage is offered by a more expensive company but not a less expensive one and that coverage is important to you, call the customer service line of the less expensive company to see if it can be added to your policy.

Are Chrome Bulbs Against The Law in Your State?

Posted November 15th by David Ostiguy in Trucks

There’s a good chance that you’re planning to add chrome bulbs to your vehicle and you ran into this article to answer a few questions that you may have. You want to make sure that adding chrome bulbs to your vehicle won’t get you into trouble with the law. You’ll find that everybody says that chrome bulbs are street legal, but you also may of read that some of the aftermarket items that claim to be DOT Approved (Department of Transportation) usually doesn’t mean anything if you get pulled over by the Police.

When it comes to bulb modifications, it is illegal to run red and blue bulbs on your vehicle. Unless your cars name is KITT, you shouldn’t be adding red bulbs to the front of your vehicle. It is required that you have amber turn signals and running lights on your vehicle. This rule applies in all 50 states of the United States of America.

So do chrome bulbs meet these guidelines? Will I be pulled over if I have these bulbs installed? Remember that different states and countries do vary on certain modifications, but as long as the chrome bulbs shine amber when on, you shouldn’t have any problems with the law.

Stealth Auto has invented a chrome bulb that knocks the socks off of all the competitors. Stealth Auto Bulbs blend in with no hint of yellow in the bulb. One the turn signal is turned on, the bulb shines amber. Stealth Auto Bulbs are also approved by the DOT, but as I said before, this usually doesn’t mean a thing to the Police if you’re pulled over.

Be sure to check the state auto laws and regulations in the state that you live in. It’s advised to check for the information you’re looking for at DMV.ORG.

Remember when it comes to other vehicle modifications, such as HID Headlights, the laws are different in each state.

Learn more about Chrome Bulbs. Also find videos where you can find laws about HID Headlights.

Everyone Should Know This About Leasing

Posted November 11th by Ulster Nol in Cars

You should think twice before putting money down on a lease: not only are you getting a rough deal, as you’re essentially forfeiting the general rule of leasing: not putting any cash upfront, but the money is not recoupable at the end of your lease. Then you should take a look at instant same day loans or mortgage deals

Most people just don’t understand how this is calculated on capitalised cost AND residual value instead of just the capitalised cost. For most, it seems plainly obvious, just as is the case when purchasing, that a charge should be levied on the capitalised cost of the vehicle.

Be realistic about your mileage needs, especially if you have to regularly commute over long-distances, before you sign the contract. Consider padding he miles that you expect to use since it is less expensive to contract for the extra before you sign than it is to pay the extra charges at end of your lease.

Let us suppose you’re leasing a car with a capitalized cost of $25,000 and a residual value of $15,000. You average balance over the lease term, irrespective of how long it is, is $20,000 – the sum of the two divided by two.

Using this sum works because the money factor is the annual interest rate devided by 24, rather than 12. Continuing with our example and assuming an interest rate of 6% APR: $30,000 X (6 per cent / 24) = $75 (Capitalized cost + residual value) X (interest rate / 24) = Monthly finance charge.

Suppose you decide to lease a vehicle with a retail price of $23,500. The leasing company estimates that after a three year lease, the vehicle will be worth 35% of its original retail value, or $8,225. The difference, $15,275, divided by the number of months in the lease, 36 months, gives us the depreciation fee ($424)

Mileage allowance The maximum number of miles a leased vehicle can be driven a year without incurring an excess mileage penalty. A typical mileage allowance is 12,000 to 15,000 miles a year, although this is negotiable with your leasing company.

So how do you spot a good deal? First, you need to find out if there are any down payments on the lease. A down payment refers to the lump sum amount that you pay upfront, either in cash, non-cash credit or trading allowance, to reduce your monthly payment.

I hope you enjoyed this lease-article. I write often about finance related issues. You might also want to check out some great information about: school loan consolidation or bad credit mortgages
